Ahhhh Friday, usually a day in which Clyde will write about whats cool and hip this upcoming weekend in NYC. However first, I must pay homage, to two bad-ass mofo's, who deserve our praise.
The Subway Superman, Wesley Autrey, I freakin' love this guy and can't get enough of this story. Talk about seizing the moment, this guy (as you all know), jumped on the subway tracks to save a strangers life, while his two young daughters watched, as the subway train rolled over their father. As you have all seen, Wesley has been everywhere over the past three days, tv, late night talk shows, hanging with Donald Trump and honored by the Mayor, and he walks around, not with an air of superiority, but justs humbly accepts some well deserved praise. Mr. Autrey - WWCD's Man of the Hour
Second, on this Friday, is David Lee, the heart and soul power forward of the NY Knicks. As you know, we are huge Knicks fans at WWCD, and though things have not been so bright over the past few years for professional basketball in NYC, there is one player who gives us all hope for the future, and that is David Lee. Great article in todays times, which properly puts DLEE into perspective.
Playing some weak "Matador D" - What else Clyde?:
From Jambands.com - This is just great:
“Your House Band” Plays Dead for Pelosi
Last Night, Nancy Pelosi was sworn in as the Speaker of The House and became the first woman to take that post. The evening was celebrated with many performances and included two sets from “Your House Band.” After being introduced by Richard Gere, Mickey Hart, Bob Weir, Bruce Hornsby, Bill Kreutzmann, Warren Haynes, and Mike Gordon took the stage for two energetic sets. The first was highlighted by a “Shakedown Street,” with Haynes on vocals along with “Truckin,” and “Touch of Grey” with Weir at the mic. The second set included Bruce Hornsby’s “The Way It Is,” as well as “Come Together” and “U.S. Blues” Gordon, Haynes and Hornsby trading verses. Ms Pelosi had the crowd up and dancing when Wyclef Jean joined the band for a spirited version of “Iko Iko.” The evening closed with everyone on stage performing Carole King’s “You've Got A Friend.”
The Onion has some hysterical covers of for their faux "Weekend Magazine". Beginning with this one
Thrilllist.com another very funny site you should be aware of, sign up for the email list, you will laugh, and Clyde wants you to laugh, and ofcourse, be cool, very cool....
If I were you, I'd head to BXL in Midtown for some tasty belgium happy hour hour beer treats, after work. Yes, Clyde knows midtown is lame for hangin', but BXL is a light in the darkness
I lived in the East Village for 5 years, and never ate the tasty Korean fare at Dok Suni, until my lady took me there last night. Tasty.....very tasty....
Also on the restaurant tip, check out Kasadela (thanks to Clydes advisor Rrrrry T for the lowdown on this place), also really friggin' great.
And lastly - Jets and Giants - Sunday - Wild Card Playoffs - get yourself to a couch, melt some cheese, drink a few beers, and enjoy....its a great day for New York.
